Meeting #610 Humorous Competition 22nd August 2011

Meeting #610 – Humorous Competition 22th August 2011

Congratulations to Keelan Naidoo on winning the Humorous Competition!

What is remarkable is that Keelan is our newest member. He moved to Johannesburg recently and only joined Transformers at our last meeting. He is a former member of Speakeasy Toastmasters club in Durban.

Only 2 speakers plucked up the courage to take part in our Humorous competition.

Glenice Ebedes explained the trials and tribulations of trying to find ‘Mr Right’. In spite of a convent upbringing which gave her such skills as Sewing, Cooking, Piano Playing and French it was to no early avail.

She attended the weddings of her peers, was present at their offspring’s Christening and was roped in for Children’s parties, but still remained single.

She suffered the question of her aunt “any young man.......? over and over again.

Finally she was given a present of a book entitled “How to seduce your dream man”

This had such interesting information. For example before leaving home on a first date, hide the fluffy toys and drape lacy lingerie over the bathroom!

Keelan told us of his experiences during a month’s work experience in Shanghai.

We were introduced to the vagaries of the plumbing and how to treat your toilet.

He told us of the various foods that he sampled that were of suspicious origin (Horse?)

It would also appear that the taxi drivers in Shanghai are even worse than our local variety.

His friends insisted on bring him to Karaoke but the only English song available was Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’ so he sang it over and over and over ......

When he mentioned he was from South Africa – all people wanted to was dance the ‘Waka Waka’

But the highlight for Keelan was seeing snow for the first time.

Keelan will represent Transformers Toastmasters club at the Area H3 competition on 15th September.
